Housing in California is no longer feasible for the next generation. In fact, California politicians have established too many regulations that drive costs to unaffordable levels. Developers, builders, and the DIYer 's can no longer afford to plan and build great projects. Permit fees, impact fees, planning fees, school fees, fire fees, environmental fees, inspection fees, and a host of other agency fees drive the cost per unit well beyond the reach of the working class, let alone the next generation.
As governor, I will reduce these costs through collaboration with industry professionals. We will implement programs and processes to make homes affordable again. We will pave the way for development while minimizing the impacts to the environment. We will strive to make home ownership affordable for all Californians, because homeowners are invested in their communities and neighborhoods.
